Le Sri Lanka<\/b> est un \u00c9tat insulaire de 65\u00a0610\u00a0km2<\/sup><\/abbr> du sous-continent indien, situ\u00e9 au sud-est de l’Inde, et peupl\u00e9 d’environ vingt-deux millions de personnes.<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

Le pays poss\u00e8de une diversit\u00e9 religieuse, culturelle et linguistique marqu\u00e9e. Ainsi, le Sri Lanka poss\u00e8de deux langues officielles reconnues par la Constitution du pays \u00e0 parts \u00e9gales, le singhalais et le tamoul. La premi\u00e8re est pr\u00e9dominante dans la plus grande partie du pays, car environ 73,8 % des habitants parlent singhalais et environ 26,1 % parlent tamoul.<\/p>

Le Sri Lanka est une \u00eele pris\u00e9e des touristes. C\u2019est aussi un pays, \u00e0 majorit\u00e9 bouddhiste, qui a souffert d\u2019une guerre civile de 26 ans (de 1972 \u00e0 2009, avec l\u2019\u00e9crasement de la r\u00e9volte des Tamouls) et d\u2019un tsunami en 2004. La guerre civile, le tsunami ont entra\u00een\u00e9 un d\u00e9placement des populations et la rupture des familles surtout les plus d\u00e9munies.<\/p>

A partir de 2009, le Sri Lanka a tir\u00e9 b\u00e9n\u00e9fice de la paix : la pauvret\u00e9 a diminu\u00e9 (le taux national de pauvret\u00e9 est pass\u00e9 de 15% en 2007 \u00e0 4,1% en 2016), et le PIB\/habitant a sensiblement augment\u00e9. Toutefois, le d\u00e9veloppement \u00e9conomique a \u00e9t\u00e9 affect\u00e9 par l\u2019instabilit\u00e9 politique qui a pr\u00e9valu en 2018 et 2019. Le pays a \u00e9t\u00e9 fragilis\u00e9 par les attentats djihadistes de P\u00e2ques 2019.<\/p>

De surcro\u00eet, depuis avril 2020, l\u2019\u00e9conomie est fortement touch\u00e9e par le ralentissement de la croissance induit par la Covid-19. L\u2019Inde, principal partenaire \u00e9conomique de Sri Lanka, suit attentivement la situation des populations tamoulophones sri lankaises mais aussi les ambitions chinoises dans l\u2019oc\u00e9an Indien.<\/p>
